Smartphones-How They Can Make the Life of a REALTOR® Easier
My husband and I are huge open wheel racing fans. This year, the Izod Indycar Series was set to race in the streets of Long Beach on April 18, 2010. With the Homebuyer deadline coming to a close, I had some clients who would definitely notice my absence. Although I usually would make this a vacation type weekend, I quickly decided it would be a working weekend. As I went through the motions of my weekend, I realized how truly amazing it is that I can do all this work, including writing my article for the NVAR Technology Committee on my little iPhone. Below is the blog post I worked on in the grandstands…enjoy and I hope it helps!
As I write this article with my thumbs on my iPhone, I am in Long Beach, California, sitting at what I believe is the best place to watch a race, waiting for the Long Beach Gran Prix to begin. Isn’t that amazing? So this race weekend, with my little smart phone, I’ve been able to:
- Keep in touch with existing, potential clients as well as family members via e-mail or text.
- Make appointments for when I get back.
- Organize my schedule with the calendar feature on my phone
- Check my e-mail and submitting highest and best offers to listing agents.
- Look up homes for sale in the area with the new REALTOR.com iPhone App
Here are a few other things you can do with a smartphone that I didn’t do at the race.
In general:
- Download and listen to Real estate, sales, and productivity podcasts.
- Create blog posts.
- Get caught up on the news.
- Posting status updates on social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
- Using the LinkedIn App to professionally network such as looking up asset managers at a bank and such.
- Tracking your mileage and deductions.
- Blackberry users: When scheduling showings online, there is a feature confirming the showing in text form.
- Watch Videos on YouTube.
- Listen to music or play open house music on Pandora.
- Take and send photos.
Perks from the local associations:
- Look up lock box codes on the spot on mlxwireless.com
Oh…newsflash! I have been notified by our NVAR Technology Committee chairman, Mike Pristow, that I can also make calls with my smartphone. Ingenious! So there you have it folks! A smartphone is not only a good investment, it is a great asset to a REALTOR®!
